The SR-71 Blackbird was an American reconnaissance aircraft that served in the United States Air Force from the 1960s to the 1990s. It was designed by Lockheed Martin and was one of the fastest aircraft in the world. Its maximum speed exceeded Mach 3 (over 3,700 km/h), and thanks to its operational altitude of up to 26 km, it was difficult for anti-missile defense systems to shoot down. The SR-71 had an advanced design, using titanium, which allowed it to withstand the extreme temperatures generated during supersonic flight. It was mainly used for intelligence gathering as its ability to escape from enemy missiles was a legendary asset.
